Local Food Products Expo and Stakeholders’ Discussion Forum


One method that can be done as an effort to offer organic local agricultural products was to perform organic local food expo. The event was held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, in Gunung Kidul Regency and followed by more than 50 people that came from members of the Association of Local Food of Gunung Kidul as well as members of the consumer groups from Yogyakarta. In this event a wide variety of organic local food products and processed products displayed and viewed by other community groups. The aim is to introduce a variety of organic local food products to the public so that it might raise the market-share of the product. From the consumer side, the organic local food expo is a very good source of information, because they can see and feel the products, meet with entrepreneurs and discuss about its products. On this occasion also held a stakeholder discussions as an effort to strengthen local food as part of food security and to strengthen the mainstreaming of local food. Key speakers of this discussion came from local government officer, farmers groups’ leader, and representative of Yogyakarta Consumer Institute. Some notes on the agenda are: 1) It’s pretty much the number of women farmers’ groups in Gunung Kidul (at least 42 groups); 2) Local Government has provided support to them but it still limited; 3) Some farmer groups had good products and ready for sale, but there were also still very simple and not suitable for sale.
